Company Profile

HIMSON engineering business has been the core business of the Rs. 4.0 billion HIMSON group. Himson started its activities 50 years ago with only few looms to manufacture quality fabrics. Since then the group activities have grown from strength. HIMSON first concentrated on expansion in the loom shed and subsequently dyeing and finishing houses were added for further growth thought forward integration. Further lace and embroidery units were established as a move towards complimentary diversification. Till this time growth was slow and steady with focus only on textiles.

1970 in the seventies, focus was shifted towards high growth. At this time the company saw the opportunity for manufacturing synthetic yarn processing machineries the marker for which was large but untapped. The seeds for this were sown with the commencement of manufacturing of up twisting and rewinding machines and engineering division came in to being.

1978 Since then there has been no turning back and the company came on the fast track. But the real momentum to growth was provided in 1978, when HIMSON tied up with Earnest Scragg Sons Ltd, U.K. To manufacture Draw Texturing machines in India. Then they strategy was to get the best available technology from abroad and adapting the same to local requirements. This strategy has been paying well and has made the company and undisputed leader in synthetic yarn processing machinery. This has been achieved by capturing almost 85% market share in spite of big competition from leaders. Leadership in synthetic yarn processing machinery has been accepted by leading POY manufactures by placing large quantity of machine orders. Himson also enjoys high reputation for in-house research and technology developments. The real success is due to the efficient and prompt after sales services to the customers. Himson has captured more than 70% of the domestic market share to supply yarn machinery.

1997 The groups Turnover started with few millions has increased to Rs.4.0 billion in 1989-90 and the turn over of Himson Textile Eng. Ind. Ltd. has increased from Rs.6.0 million in 1974 to Rs.3.o billion in 1996-97 and it's still increasing. The company manufactures a wide range of yarn processing machinery from Two for one Twister for Filament yarn, Industrial Yarn, Spun Yarn Automatic Shuttle changing Looms, Rapier Looms and Ancillary Units manufacture precision spindles, high quality ceramic Guides/Comportments and Heaters for DTY/DT machines ,Silk yarn processing machines and fabric processing machines.

Recently, Himson Group has taken over well established – S M Energy & Teknik Electronics Ltd., to diversify into fabric processing activity.

The company has about 1200 employers on its rolls, of which about 150 (13%) are management/Executives staff and 150 are Technical staff. The company has also helped developed about 150 ancillary units owned by qualified engineers. This has helped the company easily absorb the latest technology and adapt the same to meet the global requirements.

The fast growth has been sustained by installing modern Computerized Numerical Machining Centers to achieve highest accuracy and setting up a fully equipped R&D Center. Further it has a high-tech, state of the art STANDARDS ROOM for verification and calibration of measuring tools. The STANDARDS ROOM is equipped with 3D CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine along with other latest state-of-art machines & equipments.
